An ancient pocket memorandum-book, once the property of Rev. Samuel Danforth, of Taunton (subsequently the property of Elkanah Danforth, and now of his great-grandson, B. Franklin Danforth, Chetopa, Labette County, Kansas), contains many memoranda of purchases of land by said Rev. Samuel Danforth; also these memoranda: "May 20, 1774, Ebenezer Severs & Elkanah Danforth hired the Decon Luscomb's pu (pew) taking one half to myselvef"; also, "Nov. 25, 1773, Elkanah Danforth maried to Sibble Tisdel"; also, "my son Georg Washington died June the 23, 1799, in the avanna on a Spanish Ilon in the West Inges."
Elkanah Danforth was a corporal in Capt. Jonathan Shaw's co., Col. John Daggett's regt., enlisted Aug. 21, 1778, discharged Sept. 1, 1778; service, 12 days, travel included, at Rhode Island. [Mass. Arch.]
